So much greatness in a short amount of time.

So basically I have been living in a very dark cave when it comes to the music world.
I just discovered how great Andrew Bird really is. So it's not like I had never heard of Andrew Bird ok, I am not THAT lame. Of course I heard of him, from many people, and so I decided to download some of his stuff awhile ago. I was only able to download three songs and I just discovered they are from very old albums... Like 2003 status and so forth.
I soon forgot about him and kind of gave up.
Then in december this last year a friend insisted that Armchair Apocrypha was amazing so I put it on my list of things to check out among other things, kind of in the back of my mind.
It wasn't until last night that I finally found a copy.
Basically I have been listening to it constantly and truly love it. I love the whistling. I heard he does it constantly... like in life haha.
My favorite songs off the album so far are
Imitosis
Heretics

But I think most all of them are great and now I plan on purchasing Noble Beast because I hear it's just as awesome.

I just started checking out Animal Collective's new album and I will have more on that later when I have listened to the whole thing a few times.

Oh and also up next time She & Him!!!!
and Lykke Li
and Hood Internet haha

Finally!

After see TV on The Radio - Dear Science being at the top of everyone's favorite album list and after various people telling me to check it out... I finally have it.
I am not disappointed so far. It's hard to tell if I love it yet. I already had the song Crying so that is my favorite song on the album so far. I was talking with someone about how different each song sounds from the nest. It really is a diverse album that fits well together. It's also creative and kind of funky at times.
I do have a reason for not listening to this bad until now. The name of the band is what mostly put me off at first...not unlike My Morning Jacket. Both of these band names made me think of whiney bitch pop-rock (a-la FOB or My Chemical Romance) ....not that I have anything against those bands really, I just don't really enjoy that genre much.
Also I don't just start listening to a band just because it's on a magazine's top album list... Then suddenly it was in every music magazine's top album lists and it was at the number one spot for most of them. This made me think I should check it out, and also cause a friend, who has great taste in music, said it was amazing so I finally got the hint and do not regret one bit spending the afternoon listening to it.
So I recommend:
DLZ
Crying

Celebrity Playlists

So iTunes does this thing where every week or every other week they have a celebrity or two share a playlist with people that you can download as a cd or check out individual songs. Sometimes the person will go in great detail and sometimes I think they have someone do it for them. Well this week Kate Hudson made a playlist that I was pleasantly surprised by. It's actually pretty good and thought out. She isn't picking songs that promote herself or one of her movies. (with the exception of her ex-husbands band , which doesn't seem as bad to me).
She does have a new movie coming out so that's why they picked her but the songs themselves seem like songs she genuinly likes.
I could be wrong....
The first song is Arcade Fire which is a solid choice and made me actually read her comments, which were more than one word sentences. I really appreciate people who take the time to think about songs they really love and be honest about and it and want to share great music with people.
The one thing that sucked about her playlist was it didn't really provide any NEW music I haven't heard of but that's ok.
... and it doesn't hurt if they enjoy the same kind of music I do. :)

So here is Kate's list...

1. Arcade Fire - Keep The Car Running
2. Coldplay - The Scientist
3. Bob Dylan Simple Twist of Fate (Live)
4. Bon Iver - Skinny Love
5. Neil Young - Pardon My Heart
6. All I Need - Radiohead
7. U2 - All I Want Is You
8. Faces - Glad and Sorry
9. MGMT - Time to Pretend
10. Bend Folds - You Don't Know Me (feat. Regina Spektor)
11. The Black Crowes - Title Song (Live)
12. Jack Johnson - Supposed to Be
