FINALLY (Christmas Edition!)(UPDATED)

it's been forever...blah blah blah

Ok some awesome christmas songs!!

I Wish It Was Christmas Today - Julian Casablancas
gah! LOVE. I saw him performing this with Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sans (it was awesome!)
love his voice, love this song.... such a classic.
That Was The Worst Christmas Ever - Sufjan Stevens
ok I love his whole christmas album, this is one of the popular ones I think.
don't let the title fool you, it still makes me feel fuzzy.
( I also like The Friendly Beasts)
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Death Cab for Cutie
I love pretty much every version of this song but I also love death cab so that's why
I picked this one.
Also this version.
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Slow Club
Cold White Christmas - Casiotone for The Painfully Alone
another one that sounds depressing (and kinda is)
This one is for you all that think you are too cool for school
and have had lonely, sad, christmas experiences.
(or anyone who likes good music I guess.)

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Flow sweetly, hang heavy, You suddenly complete me

A couple of reasons why this weeks pics are a little late...
for one I had a very busy Thanksgiving weekend. Next week is finals so I am preparing for that.... but mainly, once again I cannot decide which songs to choose. I have a couple of entire albums I want to talk about... but I think I will save those for when I have more time so I can really figure out what I need to say. So here are three awesome songs to check out or re-discover for now:
Soft Shock (Them Jeans Acoustic Remix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I am slowly falling in love with Karen O. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about for so long but I am finally realize, I mean, I get it. She sure can rock out but I think she's shows off her genius the most when it comes to the slower songs. I am fluent in her older albums but It's Blitz! is a keeper for sure. I love this remix of Soft Shock as well as the original. Hysteric and Little are also great slower songs. Also you should get the video for Maps on itunes or some other form because it's perfect for the song. ok yeah next.
Arcade Fire - Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover)
yeah I think this whole thing is gonna end up being an ode to Yeah Yeah Yeahs or at least Karen O.
But seriously anything Arcade Fire touches is basically gold and the song is amazing in the first place... "win/win/win"...
Just to give you more options for your downloading pleasure.
Hysteric (Acoustic Version) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

!!!!!
Happy listening :)

Never Gonna Give You Up

AND DESERT YOU!!!!
I am obsessed with 80's one hot wonders... luckily for you, the day has not come where I will blog about it. Prepare yourself, it's coming sometime in the near future.
also I don't really feel like talking about these songs individually. They are all songs that came up on shuffle that I never really listened to before and now I really love. Mostly...rock... I don't like labels.
New Year's Kiss - Casiotone For The Painfully Alone

Last Flowers - Radiohead (in rainbows cd2)
gwah!!!!! so much. windfall - cass mccombs
ok this one I just want to say i had my doubts about Cass but I have come around since and I actually kind of love his latest album.

I'm Listening to The Music She'll Never Like

Life Slash Dreams - Dan Black
artist was recommended to me by last.fm. He kind of has an electric pop sound.
Squalor Victoria - The National
I can't believe I just started listening to this album, I mean... WOW. This song in particular is really beautiful. This kind of proves the theory that good things come in time. Forever and Always (Piano Version) - Taylor Swift
Honestly Taylor Swift kind of annoys me, I mean she writes her own and music and everything but she is not the best live performer. this piano version of this song is sweet and sad and I really like even if it's not what she actually sounds like.

so I have missed one or two weeks... sad I don't even know how long it's been.

Miike Snow - Plastic Jungle
This swedish band is getting a lot of hype.
This song is super groovy and the album is solid, take a gander.

The Dodos - Time to Die
no not the song, the entire album. So good, they are becoming a fav of mine fo sho.

Tegan and Sara - On Directing
so yeah you had to guess this was coming. The album is fantastic, I really like the direction they are going and I really hope to see them live. The lyrics to these songs are heartbreaking and relatable, perfect combo, right?

how embarrassing

so the only song I REALLY like on the new moon soundtrack and Pitchfork has this to say "Elsewhere, Editors could finally rid themselves of Interpol comparisons with oppressively maudlin cabaret crooner "No Sound But the Wind", but you'll only wish there were no sound."
...of course!

ok two people that read this....

Hell - Tegan and Sarah
I am SOOO excited for this album... comes out Tues.! Go BUY it! It will be worth the money, and Chris Walla produced it.
They are coming to Portland in April and it's already written on my calendar. (figuratively) Dressed to Kill - Landon Pigg
Started listening to him again cause of Whip It. If you haven't scene it, he plays Ellen Page's love interest who makes her swoon by play her sweet love songs and swimming in pools with his clothes on. This song is pretty cool and the lyrics are rightfully straightforward. Criminals - Atlas Sound
I am really diggin this album right now. I guess if you read pitchfork you are probably diggin it as well or dug it last week.

So many good songs.... how can I be sad?

Ok so I have too many things to list here. I guess I won't post anything from all the new soundtracks I have obtained because you probably know and/or own them already...
oh except one song I think is really great...

ok so I will get the soundtrack song out of the way
Editors - No Sound But The Wind (New Moon Soundtrack)
This soundtrack was a pleasant surprise with artists it managed to pull together. I guess I kind of high expectations from some of the more obscure artists but I think overall it's worth listening to.
Arcade Fire - Crown of Love
so I hope everyone has heard this song, if you haven't go do so right now. I just needed to express my love for this song.
ok moving on.
by ratexlaSnow Patrol - One Hundred Things You Should Have Done in Bed
Can't believe I just discovered this album. Final Straw will always be number one in my heart but this older album is truly great work.
Bjork - Triumph of the Heart
ok first of all the music video for this song is AMAZING and makes me crack up every time. Bjork never ceases to amaze me. She is so effing creative and innovative.

I guess I will stop there and leave some songs for next week.

If My Heart Was a House - Owl City
my new crush
The Boy is Gone - Jason Mraz
oldie rediscovered
Roberat C. - Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
new band for me
Someone Great - LCD Soundsystem
just downloaded this music video... so sad, so beautiful

Time is all you have Careful what you say

Why Waste More Time? - Rosie Thomas
This song is just lovely. The lyrics are beautiful and honest. Rosie's voice is so unique, it's innocent mixed with a tinge of bittersweet reality.

Can You Tell - Ra Ra Riot
I am HOOKED on this song. I think if you just give it a listen you will see what I mean.
The Girl - City and Colour
Ok so second week in a row for CIty and Colour.... but seriously this album is THAT good. This song is kind of heartbreaking and sweet and romantic...all of my favorite ingredients haha.

I Hope It's Gonna Make You Notice.

It has been way too long. I thought I would be updating everyday after I got my wisdom teeth out. I was laying around but I was pretty much asleep all the time. So now I am completely moved into my new place and I have some awesome tunes for you guys to check out!!!

Use Somebody (Kings of Leon Cover) - Paramore
I really love Paramore and I think they are really starting to grow musically. I haven't heard the new album, I think its one I need to buy. I have been hearing nothing but good things about. This Kings songs is great and I like Haley's voice covering it. I really enjoy live sessions like this so I guess it's a win/win/win for me.
Inoculate The Innocuous - The Unicorns
an oldie and a goodie! Loooove The Unicorns
As Much as I Ever Could - City and Colour
Dallas Green's voice is amazing and his lyrics are just as sweet. If you are feeling emotional and need some melancholy tunes then check him out.... I haven't heard a song I haven't liked yet.

Shout-Outs and Other

I wanted to dedicate this post to friends on Last.fm
I have been finding new music I love like crazy thanks to you guys!

Soulofasailor got me checking out Sam Cooke and Muddy Waters. I knew that both artists are icons and classics but never really thought about listening to them. Thanks for the inspiration.

ilikeducks got me to check out Balmorhea and Message to Bears. Love both of these ambient sounds. If you like instrumental stuff you should definitely check both of these bands out. Also Message to Bears have a lot of free downloads on Last.fm (Link at the top)
ps Also I think when I first started using last.fm back in the day you told me to listen to Feist because I would love her.... I OWE YOU MY LIFE.

AaronCXS Got me listening to Yo La Tengo more. I had heard of them before but didnn't really get into them until recently. Also, The Mountain Goats. If you haven't checked them out yet then you need to, NOW.

The_Remy There are countless bands and artists you have introduced me to, they would fill up the whole page. Most recently I am thanking you for introducing me to Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground Now I am super excited to see them at Bumbershoot!

ciaobonefish thank you for introducing me toAu Revoir Simone I have two of their albums and love them both.... if they have more I want them haha.

Songs for the week

Fools Paradise - Sam Cooke

Really diggin' his four disc collection. Just so amazing.

Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - She & Him

Cover of The Smiths. This is from the soundtrack to 500 Days of Summer. I liked the movie but the soundtrack is better. This is a good cover too.

Little Bit - Lykke Li

Can't remember if I have posted this song before but it's just so good. I love the lyrics and her voice is so pure. Also check out the music video if you haven't already.

Honey Honey - Feist
Feist is one of my favorite artists. This song shows off her talent by being beautiful and haunting. I can't pick favorites when it comes to her songs but this would probably be one of them.

Far away I get the feeling I belong

A new week!
I will forget all of my troubles and immerse myself in music.

OK so these songs are not going to be new but songs that I have loved for awhile and feel like sharing them with you now. You have probably heard them but there is nothing wrong with re-visiting favorites.

Pretty Girl From San Diego - The Avett Brothers
Well I love the whole Avett Brothers album, Emotionalism. Seriously it one of my favorite albums.

Mykonos - Fleet Foxes
I am OBSESSED with this song. It's amazing all the way around. The vocals are untouchable. I really want to see this band live.

Pic taken by ME
A Movie Script Ending (acoustic version) - Death Cab

So it's classic death cab song stripped down. This version is from the soundtrack to Wicker Park (ok movie... amazing soundtrack, check it out)
This song is bittersweet and romantic and this slower version only enhances these emotions.

Ok... Have a good week everyone!!!
