Songs of The Day

Ok so today is all about the women... and a man.

1st song:

Relator by Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson

I know you may all be a little skeptical of Scarlett but you should really give this song a try. I am really diggin' it and it feels like a great summer song. It also gives the vibe of an older sound, which is something I admire.

2nd sond:

Back of The Van by Ladyhawke

I just started getting into her. I think she is great and I love her voice. This song is kind of electronic with a good drum beat. It kind of reminds me of an 80's era song with some of the synth in there but in a good way.

Last song (and you will definitely be skeptical of this one)

Ladies Choice - Mandy Moore

So the other day my ipod was on shuffle and this song came up, I almost skipped it but I got distracted. I kept listening and realized that I actually kinda of liked the song. I guess it was a lesson on judging a book by its cover. Ironically Mandy's new cd came out that day and I decided to have a gander and that one is pretty good so far. I love that she is really trying to break away from her prior image and really getting into the process of creating art through music. MAD PROPS!

Songs of The Day

Sorry, I know I am a couple days short. I lost my list of songs I wanted to talk about, but they are found! Gee Wiz!
Before I get to them I just want to say that I am on a new music binge! (my favorite kind of binge) This binge includes the NEW Grizzly Bear so look out for a review of that one later on.

Alright... ONWARD!

First song is a cover:

... Maps covered by Rogue Wave from the album Sweethearts.

Now I will tell you up front that I like the Yeah Yeah Yeah's original better but this is a refreshing twist on an amazing song. I also love Rogue Wave so I don't think you can go wrong. Also the whole Sweethearts album was kind of a letdown for me so my mood was lightened when this gem floated into my eardrums.

Second song is:

Looks Like Rain by Friendly Fires

I just heard this song today! I am already in love with it. I like this band and have high hopes for them.

and finally:

Into the Fire by Thirteen Senses

I heard this song on Grey's Anatomy___ It was on the Pilot episode I believe. I have since attained many of their songs and think they are a lovely group with promise! They kind of remind me of The Fray I guess... or one of those type of bands. (You know the one's that get their song played on TV shows.)

Song(s) of The Day

So I was thinking about doing "Song" or "Multiple Songs of The Days"
... something along those lines. I am not completely consistent in keeping
up with this blog but maybe this will keep me in check! :)

Ok so I have three songs for today. Basically how I chose the songs was I had iTunes on "DJ" or whatever and when I noticed a really good song I thought about how I wish I could tell people to listen to them and share the joy with me. Then I remembered I had this music blog for just that purpose! So that is the story of how this idea came about....

First song is:

Sons & Daughters - Broken Social Scene

--- What can I say about this song? Well I love Broken Social Scene so it's hard for me to DISLIKE any of their songs but this one stood out among others today... that's the only explanation I have.

Second song is:

Beach Goth - Wavves

--- This is a newer band for me, I just recently got this album and it has been a fave. I really enjoy this song, I think it is a gem and worth a gander.

Third song is:

Cherbourg - Beirut

--- Zach Condon is a genius. Beirut is one of my favorite bands and this song is genius!! Say genius again....GENIUS GENIUS GENIUS!!!!!!!!

ok there you go lovers of melodic sound, don't weep too much over the beauty these songs will bring you... ;)

Have this on repeat for the past couple of days (along with St. Vincent's new album Actor)

So I had the EP from Passion Pit and listened to it a couple of times. I thought it was O.K./pretty good. I love Sleepyhead and I was really getting into it. My brother told me about their CD manners and said it was basically awesome. He gave me a copy and I can't stop listening to it. I love most every song except for Fold in Your Hands. (not that I don't like it, I just love the other songs MORE)
Mainly I think it's a good album to just put on and listen to the whole thing and flows really well.
As far a fav's go I am really into "Make Light" and "To Kingdom Come"
So while everyone else is freaking out of the EP, get the good stuff instead, it has your fav's plus more!!!

Guilty Pleasure

Ok I don't really believe in Guilty Pleasure but I know this isn't the most genius piece of song-writing and some of you are gonna hate on me for liking it but I DON"T CARE

Good Girls Go Bad - Cobra Starship feat. Leighton Meester

I am a huge fan of this song, it's got a great beat and it makes me want to dance! (all the ingredients of a good pop song)
It's my new workout song which is good cause I can always use motivation to work out!! If you are looking for some fun summer tunes or just something to dance to then you should check out this song!!

I'm not anything

My new fav!!! St. Vincent aka Annie Clark. I loved Now, now from her previous album. This caused me to purchase her new album, Actor, on vinyl. It is living up to the high standards I set for it. She has a beautiful voice and is a great musician as well as song-writer. The album also came with a free digital download so I never have to stop listening to it!!!!
A+

Listen to: Black Rainbow, Actor Out of Work, The Bed.... actually just listen to the whole thing, you won't regret it!

waste of cows can be turned into energy

In the most boring class ever, people are getting up and leaving... I will stay because I want to waste time...20 min to write about music.
Music lateley... let's see. So I randomly decided to listen to Passion Pit yesterday or the day before and now I am noticing all these people listening to them. On Hipsterrunoff, I read about how they are the new Animal Collective. Coincidence? It's so weird how things happen like that.
